OffBeat Magazine
EDITORIAL LAYOUT | MAGAZINE COVER
BRIEF: Time out has launched a new global travel magazine that represents its origins by focusing on unique and unconventional and controversial destinations.
CONCEPT: This editorial spread design was inspired by the ostentatious style of North Korea's Pyongyang and intended to reveal part of its cultural identity to the reader. The bold and bright colours used in North Korea's interiors are a representation of its dictatorship because they echo pre-school colour schemes and symmetry which project carefree prosperity. The article's design also nods to the country's issues with the enclosed type and wording that is hidden amongst a playful and cheerful layout.
